About Miramonte

About Miramonte Section

Miramonte Elementary is a TK–6 school in the Clovis Unified School District with a long-standing tradition of excellence, character, and community. We believe every student deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and achieve at high levels in Mind, Body, and Spirit. Our commitment to students is rooted in high expectations, strong relationships, exceptional instruction, and the belief that every child deserves the support and encouragement needed to reach their full potential.

Miramonte opened its doors in January 1979, becoming the first elementary school to open in Clovis Unified following the District's unification in 1960. For more than four decades, generations of students, families, and staff have helped shape the special culture that exists on our campus today. Our Mustang mascot represents the qualities we hope to develop in every student: curiosity, awareness, a willingness to learn, and an adventurous spirit.

Our commitment to excellence has been recognized at both the state and national level. Miramonte was named a California Distinguished School in 2000 and 2006, a Title I Academic Achievement School in 2005, 2006, 2009, and 2010, a National Blue Ribbon School in 2011, and a California Gold Ribbon School in 2016. Our commitment to character and positive school culture has also been recognized through Fresno State's Bonner Education's Virtues and Character Education Award in 1998, 2004, and 2019, as well as the Positivity Project's Green Shield School recognition in 2025 and 2026.

While we are proud of these accomplishments, we believe our greatest measure of success is the growth and success of our students. We work together as a school community to provide high expectations and high support, ensuring that every Mustang is known, valued, challenged, and supported. Our teachers, staff, families, and community share the responsibility of helping our students become confident learners, responsible citizens, and people who make a positive difference in the world.

And then there is our Mustang spirit! Miramonte is proud of our Orange and Blue, and on any given Friday, our campus becomes a sea of orange as students and staff proudly show their Mustang pride. We often say, “Orange is an Attitude,” and we hope you can feel that attitude when you visit our campus.

At Miramonte, we are proud of our history, excited about our future, and committed to continuing the tradition of excellence that has made this school such a special place for generations of Mustangs.
